Will to learn

In the hinterland, 2017 has started full of news: the 8th edition of the Training Project was held in January.
With the theme “EDUCATION TO TRANSFORM. FACING THE FUTURE”, more than 350 education professionals who work in the TCs (Transformation Centers) of Amigos do Bem villages were gathered at Catimbau Transformation Center (State of Pernambuco). The Training objective is to turn professionals into multipliers of education in the hinterland, through the constant improvement over their specific skills and areas.

To this end, volunteer coaches from São Paulo presented the didactic material of the school year Transformation Centers workshops. They are activities and group dynamics for classes of: dance, theater, capoeira, English, school reinforcement, sports, besides cooking, computer science, manicure and hairdressing.
The Transformation Centers units follow a standard pedagogical line, respecting their specificities and guaranteeing an uniform educational development. The proposal is to promote more and more dynamics to motivate students – and there is something new: the inclusion of the mathematics workshop in this semester.

Amigos do Bem Trainings happen every six months.Romário Silva, a music teacher at Torrões Transformation Center in Alagoas, says: “It was a lot of learning! DudaMoura, who came from São Paulo, solved our doubts and I, who already know how to play the guitar and the percussion, have learned a little more about the bass, the keyboard and the drums.”.

Romário is studying Pedagogy because of a scholarship given by one of the Amigos do Bemprojects. He remembers his first training: “Through Amigos do Bem, I have learned even more to put it into practice. So, I have been improving on the guitar to transmit my knowledge in the music classes at the TC.”, he says..

This was Mariana Rodrigues’ first Training. She is a volunteer music instructor from São Paulo. Her words: “They are a reflection of what you teach, they have a will to learn. Some of them hurry during coffee break and lunch time so they may return to theirclassroom to study.”

In addition to the volunteers from São Paulo, this edition was attended by the president of Amigos do BemAlcioneAlbanesi. “These children who once ran in the middle of the dry bush are here today, they are our educators and are in college,” she celebrates and reinforces the importance and responsibility of this work.
